The Dichotomy Diaries Podcast

When host Amanda meets Dick, the charming Mormon man from Las Vegas relentlessly pursuing her via social media for months, she never could have imagined the whirlwind that would follow. What starts as a passionate romance quickly spirals into something far more sinister. The Dichotomy Diaries isn’t just about your “run-of-the-mill” divorce—it’s about seven women, all unknowingly connected by the same predator, sharing their raw, unfiltered stories of betrayal, manipulation, and abusive games disguised as love. Season One pulls back the curtain on The Dichotomy that is Dick; as Amanda and his other victims untangle the dark layers of deceit he’s woven. On the surface, he’s the charming, devoted Mormon, but beneath that facade lies a man entangled in the deeply hidden and taboo world of financial domination, secret escorting for men, and compulsive gambling. Together, these seven women expose not just the abusive games he played, but the resilience it takes to emerge from them. Join The Dichotomy Diaries as we dive into firsthand accounts of survival, twisted relationships, and the journey to rise from the ashes. These aren’t just stories—they’re proof that truth is often stranger than fiction.

Amanda Arnier

Podcast Host

Hi, I’m Amanda—let’s take a walk through my day.

First thing’s first: caffeine, floor cuddles & affirmations with my Great Danes, and a quick reality check that yes, I’m still obsessed with true crime podcasts. (this part will make sense more a little later)

By 10 a.m., I’m either deep in podcast recording mode, unraveling some of the wildest relationship drama you've ever heard, or prepping for the next episode of The Dichotomy Diaries—my little corner of the podcast world where I spill everything I’ve learned (and unlearned) about myself, love, manipulation, and finding your way out of some seriously dark places.

If you’re looking for credentials, I’ve got them. I hold two degrees from Arizona State University—because, you know, why not make life even more complex by adding Law School to the mix? But honestly, my real expertise comes from life itself. I’ve lived through more than a few “you can’t make this up” situations, and sharing those stories has become my lifeline—and hopefully, yours too.

Here’s what you need to know: this podcast is about me being real, and by real, I mean sharing my soul, my mess, and all the lessons that came from it. I was in a relationship that nearly broke me, but instead of hiding the shame, I decided to put it out there, raw and unfiltered. And while everyone thought I was nuts, this was how I reclaimed my power.

My gut told me this podcast was the key to healing, and, spoiler alert—it was right. Now, I use my story to connect with people like you, who’ve probably had their own share of “WTF?” moments in love.

So, stick around if you’re into some serious tea, unfiltered truths, lots of laughs, and maybe, just maybe, some healing along the way.

Random Facts

- I might as well be a dude when it comes to sports. I’m obsessed with F1, tennis, hockey, the NBA, and Roll Tide Alabama football. Bet I know more player stats than the guy you’re dating.

- My Great Danes, Carrera Miura are named after my favorite classic Lamborghini and Monza Firenze after my top bucket list F1 race and my favorite city in the entire world.

- Most days, I just want to escape to the woods, pitch a tent, and sip on some Coors Light by a fire with my dogs and my boyfriend. Moments over Materials.

- I’m completely self-taught in podcasting, from production to graphic design. If you see it or hear it, I did that shit myself.

- I’ve been listening to true crime podcasts since Serial debuted, and let me tell you, I never in a million years thought I would be the subject of a true crime documentary, let alone the host of a TOP 1.5% global podcast!

-  I can belt out Andrea Bocelli, analyze Dante’s Inferno, and teach you some crazy history on pasta origins—I love my heritage!

My Why

The Dichotomy Diaries is where I lay it all out—everything in my soul. The good, the bad, the messy, the embarrassing—I hold nothing back. I knew deep down that I needed to rid myself of the shame I had carried from my past relationship. And while everyone around me thought sharing my story was a bad idea, I felt it in every fiber of my being that this was the only way I would truly heal from a wound that was so deep and intentional.

At a time when I couldn’t even trust my own judgment—after being manipulated and hurt by someone I believed deeply loved me—this podcast became my lifeline. It was the key to me learning to trust my gut again. Through telling these stories, I realized without a doubt that I knew exactly what I needed to do to save myself.

This podcast isn’t just about telling my story—it’s about reclaiming my power, finding my voice, and understanding that I’ve always had the strength within me. Sharing everything here has been my way of healing, and it’s proof that even when you think you can’t trust yourself, you absolutely can.

TRIGGER WARNING: This episode of The Dichotomy Diaries discusses sexual assault in detail. If this topic is triggering for you, please take care of yourself and consider skipping this episode.

Dear Diary & Listeners,
The past few months have been a serious struggle for me. I’ve been dragging my feet on wrapping up Season 1 of the podcast, stuck in this frustrating writers' block. No matter what I did, I just couldn’t get the creative juices flowing like I used to, keeping me up late into the night creating for you all.
I think I know what sparked the shift, but it’s still a bit confusing. I reconnected with someone who just gets my brain. Being around him feels amazing—safe, even. It’s like all the overthinking noise in my head quieted down for a change. But here’s the thing: I need challenges in my life to stay motivated. I thrive on goals to work toward every day. This podcast was that challenge for me.
But as Season 1 wrapped up and I got to the final interview, I looked around and thought, “WTF? This is too easy now.” And you know what? The most unexpected challenge I found was in my own head. My new relationship is healthy and fulfilling, but I’m literally challenging my traumatized brain every day not to go off the deep end and screw it all up. Can you imagine that feeling? Being completely happy and fulfilled, yet your brain is like, “ABORT! Everyone's a liar!” It’s a wild ride.
Here’s the thing I didn’t know: there are people out there who see you struggling, who actually help and affirm your feelings, and who can take a horrible situation born from trauma and make it better. Yep, not worse—better.
So, that brings me to why I’m sharing what I’m sharing today. I’m going to take you back to something that happened to me about 11 years ago. It was traumatic then, and it still is to think about (I definitely had a few mini panic attacks while recording this—watch it on YouTube if you want to see how wild it was). I’ll walk you through one of my first Tinder dates, back when it was the hottest dating app out there.
As I always say, shame has no home inside me. I made some bad choices that put me in danger, and I need to own up to that. I want to share it with you so you can see, 1) we all make mistakes, 2) how serious those mistakes can be, 3) what you can do to avoid them, and 4) the tools you need to stay safe in this crazy dating world.
Maybe it’s because I feel safe, seen, and truly loved right now, but I really want to get this off my chest. I’m not going to lie, though—this is rough. It’s graphic, and if you have any issues with content related to sexual assault, I suggest you skip this episode.
As always, thanks for giving me a place to be 100% myself. Thank you for listening to me without judgment. You all keep me going. Oh, and PS: I’m so glad to be back on the mic.

Amanda

Dear Diary & Listeners,
I’d be lying if I said getting to this last episode of The Dichotomy Diaries was anything close to a walk in the park. In truth, it’s been a grueling journey—one that has required me to face the ashes of my past and find a way to rise above them. Starting and maintaining this podcast has been the single hardest thing I’ve done, forcing me to dissect my experiences and uncover the roots of my pain. Much like the haunting echoes in Illenium’s From the Ashes, I've wrestled with being broken down only to rise again. That song is close to my heart because, just as Phoenix shaped who I am today, it’s also where I became my most broken. It's ironic: Phoenix both created and nearly destroyed me.
As humans, we crave understanding. When faced with unanswered questions, we can either bury them or seek answers, no matter the cost. So, yes—I fucked around and found out, and I don't regret it. There were days I wanted to give up, to disappear from the internet entirely. But each day, I rose with purpose, determined to see this through. And while this process has been healing, it has also been intensely challenging, revealing both sadness and the joy of personal transformation.
Hosting this podcast has unintentionally filtered out the wrong people from my life—The Fuck Boy Filter, if you will. Those who approached me should have known that I have no patience for those who aren’t genuine or respectful. It's worked, more or less, but I have encountered some strange birds along the way. Thankfully, the DMs have slowed, and the wildest proposals now feel like a distant memory. Even better, the podcast has acted as a background check, a sort of litmus test for anyone new who enters my life.
I am so happy to mention that the new man in my life is beyond amazing. Though he respects my work and acknowledges my commitment, he hasn’t listened to a single episode. Initially, I was disappointed—it’s my art, after all. But then, I realized that not everyone needs to know every detail. True connection doesn’t need to know the scars in high definition; it can see the resilience in your eyes and recognize your strength without needing every gritty detail. I am positive that if he tuned in, he’d be fuming just a few minutes into the first episode. And honestly? I can’t blame him.
I hope this final episode brings you the closure it brought me. I hope you found value in listening to my journey, and if you did, I’d love to hear about it. My DMs are always open.
As I wrap up Season 1 of The Dichotomy Diaries, I find myself reflecting on all I’ve endured and overcome. There were countless times when I was faced with people trying to burn down everything I had worked to rebuild. To those who wanted to see me fall, here’s my response: What do you want from me tonight? You wanna burn down everything in sight? I’ve walked through the flames and emerged stronger, unafraid of what comes next.
Because I’ve realized I’m not just surviving this fire; I’m thriving in it. So go on, light your matches, and watch as I rise from the ashes.
Thank you for standing beside me in the fire. Season 2 awaits...

The Prequel: The Eye of the Storm

Wednesday Feb 05, 2025

Wednesday Feb 05, 2025

Dear Diary & Listeners,
There’s something unsettling about the way stories are told. Victims speak about their experiences. Predators speak about their victims.
When someone endures pain, betrayal, and manipulation, they share their story in an effort to heal, to be understood, to reclaim their truth. But the ones who inflicted that pain? They spend their time making sure you only hear their version of events. They rewrite history. They call their victims crazy, difficult, unstable—anything to discredit the person who knows exactly what they’ve done.
That’s why this episode is so important. Before you hear what happened to Ashley, you need to know who she is. The woman behind the story. Her background, her voice, her perspective—because understanding her as a human being is everything.
Once the truth unfolds, you’ll see why the people who try the hardest to silence victims are the ones with the most to hide.
Welcome to The Eye of the Storm...
